P.E. Sport Premium Funding:

Following the London 2012 Olympics, the Government agreed to invest over £450million in school sports funding up to 2016 and in the last Parliament this was agreed to be extended until at least 2020, partially funded for by the introduction of the “sugar-tax”, and linked to the Government’s Childhood Obesity Plan. We are lucky enough for this to continue this academic year, developing children’s skills within physical education.

This is known as Sport Premium funding and is ring fenced in school to be spent solely on school sport and P.E.  This year (2024/2025) we will receive £19,150.

Schools are held accountable by Ofsted regarding the spending of this grant and Ofsted will report on how we spend our Sport Premium funding.

Improvements that have been made due to the Sports Premium Budget, allow opportunities to be provided for all children across school. If the Sports Premium Budget was to be ceased, Front Street children will have the resources to develop their physical education and teaching staff will have the knowledge to deliver PE lessons to the children due to their regular CPD sessions due to the coaches that we currently have in school.

Our PE Curriculum

Intent

Our aim is to challenge each child to reach their full intellectual, creative and physical potential through providing high quality and diverse experiences, developing the ‘whole’ person.  All children will be physically active and find enjoyment in physical activity.  Children will find a lasting sense of purpose, achievement and fulfilment in physical activity.  We promote the development of a variety of physical skills appropriate to their ability and an understanding of how to apply them.  Also, we develop positive attitudes to physical endeavour including perseverance, fair play and sporting behaviour and the ability to cope with success and failure.  Physical skills, habits and interests are advanced that will promote a healthy lifestyle.  Children develop their skills of communication and the ability to work independently and with others.

Inclusion and Equal Opportunities

The planning and resourcing of PE takes account of every child and their needs and we pay particular attention to ensuring there is no gender bias in equipment or in access to resources and promote equal distribution of questioning across all groups.  The skill and ability of each child is accounted for when differentiating the lesson (through equipment, and challenges).  Our PE curriculum is inclusive: we have high aspirations for all children, including children with SEND.  ALL pupils will be supported to access age-appropriate content within the PE curriculum – this could be through support, the use of resources and through intervention.  We work in compliance with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 to ensure our curriculum is accessible for pupils with SEND.
