Reception have been learning about and celebrating Chinese New Year this week!

We have learnt about the story of the Chinese calendar and have found out that within Reception this year all the children were born in either the year of the pig ???? or the year of the rat.????

This year it is the year of the snake! ????

We have enjoyed tasting Chinese food, listening to Chinese music, watching and moving to music like the Dragon dance does. We have learnt about red being an important colour and special gifts such as red money wallets that are shared amongst family at Chinese New Year. We have been improving our fine motor skills by using chop sticks to pick up Pom poms and buttons and using scissors to cut out a snake!

We also learnt two songs about Chinese New Year. ???? ???????? ????
