Diversity and Inclusion: Proud to be me!

During the 2022/23 academic year, #TeamFrontStreet have been exploring lots of different ways we can be inclusive.

In the Autumn Term, we looked at Black History Month and we looked at reasons why people like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. might be proud of themselves.

In the Spring Term, we looked at LGBTQ+ History month and we looked at reasons why people like Alan Turing and Billie Jean King might be proud of themselves.

In the Summer Term, we looked at Pride and we looked at what it means to be proud, why we are proud of ourselves and how we can be inclusive in our school.

Throughout the year we have taken part in different workshops and activities.

KS2 have recently completed a series of 3 LEGO Workshops which were facilitated by the charity Diversity Role Models. The workshops looked at Diverse Families, Stereotypes and Inclusive/Diverse Culture.

Bella Bluebell (who the children might know best as Lee!) also visited us and gave an honest and open assembly about how words were extremely important, the impact they can have and choosing to be kind is always a good choice.

Mrs Robson and Mr Pallas ran an Art Competition with the theme of Inclusion and Diversity and the response was phenomenal and it was lovely to see all the different interpretations.

For those of you who have been into our school, you will see our display boards have been showcasing different types of inclusion and diversity with themes including: Our Diverse Society (looking at different religions and cultures), Gender Stereotypes, Diverse Families, Famous People and more.

There has been so much more, but then today we end our school year with our wonderful dessert trolley decorated by our brilliant kitchen staff celebrating all things pride and reminding the children to be proud of themselves for who they are.
