Our Trip to Hamsterley Forest

Header curve

On Monday Reception visited Hamsterley Forest. We travelled by coach and enjoyed playing games of eye-spy on the journey- we saw lots of sheep!

When we arrived at Hamsterley, we met our Forest rangers and walked to the outdoor classroom for lunch. After eating our lunch we split into two groups and set off walking into the trees. On our journey we saw a large Gruffalo statue and enjoyed identifying it’s features! We found the poisonous wart at the end of his nose particularly funny! As we continued our walk we saw the Gruffalo’s child as well as incredibly tall Scott’s pine trees- our ranger told us that these trees were very strong and flexible and could withstand all of the windy weather we have been having lately.

We had a pit stop in a clearing beneath the trees and were able to make dens for some animals, created clay creatures and even made muddy potions for the Gruffalo to drink! We had so much fun!
