Year Six have been inspired by the work of two artists.
We have looked at a painting byPeter Bruegel(1565) calledHunters in the Snow.
We also looked at the paintingGoing to Work(1945) byL.S. Lowry.
Although these artists lived almost four hundred years apart, we spotted some similar features and ideas in both pieces which we tried to use in our own compositions.
We chose awintry colour palettelike they did.
Just like in the paintings we studied, many of our figures are alsofacing away from the viewer.
Our figures are not posing for the painting – they are justordinary people going about their daily activities.
We used a range of techniques andmade choicesabout how we wouldcombine different mediato achieve the finishes that we wanted.
