Step into our Year 6 Art Gallery…

Year Six have been inspired by the work of two artists.

We have looked at a painting by Peter Bruegel (1565) called Hunters in the Snow.

We also looked at the painting Going to Work (1945) by L.S. Lowry.

Although these artists lived almost four hundred years apart, we spotted some similar features and ideas in both pieces which we tried to use in our own compositions.

We chose a wintry colour palette like they did.

Just like in the paintings we studied, many of our figures are also facing away from the viewer.

Our figures are not posing for the painting – they are just ordinary people going about their daily activities.

We used a range of techniques and made choices about how we would combine different media to achieve the finishes that we wanted.
