This half term, the children in a year 3 have been exploring forces and finding out how magnets work. For their final lesson of this unit, they looked at how magnets are used in everyday life and were faced with the challenge to separate a mixture of cans, paper clips and sand, without using their hands. The children then presented their findings back to the class and had worked out that the metal used to make the cans was not magnetic and did not attract to the magnet.
